The 4th Industrial Revolution and the future Jobs

Introduction

The ABC plastic Industries is a plastic manufacturing company in the north western province, employed with 450-500 no of employees with injection and blow molding machinery, with new technology development  the company can develop the production with fully automated machinery, but the company gradually decided to introduce with new machinery with fully automated facilities in near future.

Literature

The 4th industrial revolution and the future jobs is most important chapter in the current situation, the 1st industrial revolution has been occurred in Netherlands was (1760) that handmade crafts business by former crafts workers  could not compete with factories manufacture products, the second industrial revolutions started 1870-1914 know as technology revolution  brought mass production and industrialization, 3rd Industrial revolution began 1960-1990 its brought the mainframe computers, personal computing and the internet, due to this the traditional middle class workers face job issues. (Van Dam, 2017)

The manufacturing sector is on the cusp of the 4th industrial revolution (4IR), bringing with it modern technologies and strategies that will alter the products, forms and supply chains included in each viewpoint of industry. This technology ushers in even more prominent connectivity that will permit manufacturers to maintain their competitive edge in a rapidly changing world, and respond flexibly and rapidly to customers’ necessities. (Charis, 2016)
the acceleration of technology will shorten the self life of existing knowledge, expertise and skill, and require different competencies which need to be develop. For example, a specific activities of jobs become automated, people will be required to focus on new activities which require different skill. Technological skill will experience the faster change (Van Dam, 2017)

Conclusion

Finally, the 4th industrial revolution is also referred to as the digital age which necessitates that people develop digital competencies. The EU argues that “there is a need for digital skill for nearly all jobs where technology complements existing tasks. In the near future 90% of jobs will require some level of digital skill” (Sherrei, 2019)

Learning and Development Strategy


Introduction

The organizations management has to ensure that the learning and development strategy articulates the workforce capabilities, skills required and how this can be develop to remain a successful organization, the company like ABc Plastic Industries has been employed with 450 employee with special training and skill to operate the injection and blow molding machineries, the management should implement a proper learning and development strategy for the ABCPI sustainable success.

Literature

If the employee knows what to do and how to operate the particular machines, how to utilized the efficiency of the machinery are trained properly their productivity will be increase (Russ, 2016), these kind of training must important to the ABCPI.
The training in health and safety will reduce the amount of work based injuries which occur, it will be protecting the employee and the company from the possible litigation (Russ, 2016), the ABCPI having major and minor injuries during the manufacturing process while operating the machineries, so the proper training in health and safety will be reduce the injuries.
The learning will give a great understanding of their responsibilities within their role, and they can build their confidence more,  the overall more confidence will lead the organization performance and sustainable success (unknown, 2019)
The most of the time employee satisfaction do not depend on monetary compensation, most of the employee getting greater befit by learning new knowledge and upgrade their skills and technical knowledge. (James, 2017)

Conclusion

The ABCPI having more employee turnover every 6 month, the recruitment cost is more according to the research if the company given proper learning on regards to the job of the employees hope employee turnover will be reduces. The ABCPI organization should implement proper learning and development strategy to the employees, to meet the organization goal.

Employees Rights and Responsibilities


Introduction

In the HRM the most important part is that  employee rights and the responsibilities,  The ABC Plastic Industries (ABCPI) is the manufacturing the plastic consumer and plastic furniture items, the manpower approximately 400-450 employees from low level to high level, the employees right and responsibilities is the most important part to taken in to the consideration.

Literature

As ABCPI having 34 injection and blow molding machineries, the employees must read and understand the work place environment safety. Take after all legal matters and security and also the health rules and regulations, and wear or utilize required defensive equipment while working. Report dangerous conditions to the employer.

According to (Sherrei, 2019)  “employee has the right to refuse to perform unsafe work.” Unsafe work is considered a job assignment that might cause serious injury or death to the employee.” ABCPI having a highly risk on employees health especially on physical injuries, so the organization has provide highly safety in this regard, and 24 hrs transport facilities for the emegencies

The Sri Lanka labour law  covers the specially , Minimum wage, Hours worked, Discrimination, Health and security, Holiday privileges, Redundancy and dismissal, Training, Disciplinary procedures, Union rights and interview, among numerous others. (SL Labour Law), reference to the SL labour law the ABCPI mostly consider the discrimination, and  worked hrs, where as the organization operate 24 hrs shift work,  considering to that the HRM has to monitor the night shift work accordance to the SL labour law rule, and also the ABCPI has to provide the proper training, employees had to have more concern about the training time to operate the machinery in proper manner.

Conclusion

Employees have health and safety duties as well as employers. This reflects the fact that for good safety management it is essential for the employer and employees to work together.
